Dress Code

Our uniform was created with many things in mind: Simplicity, cohesiveness, professionalism, and minimizing distraction in the classroom, resulting in the maximization of your dancers’ time in class and quality of learning.

All dancers are required to have the class leotard, Ballet Pink tights, and pink leather or canvas ballet shoes.

Hair must be a natural color, slicked back and secured into a ballet bun, with any loose hair pinned back, including bangs. This allows Ms. Michelle to see the entire spinal column and promotes proper training.

Jewelry: Only small stud earrings are permitted.

LEOTARDS, TIGHTS, BALLET SHOES, AND POINTE SHOES MUST BE CLEAN, FREE OF HOLES, FUNCTIONAL, AND FIT WELL.

FAQs

Why is a dress code required?

All ballet attire should facilitate learning. Uniforms allow Ms. Michelle to see the musculoskeletal structure of your dancer so she can provide the best corrections.

Why can’t my dancer wear jewelry?

Jewelry can be very distracting but also can be a safety hazard in the classroom. Please keep jewelry to a minimum of small stud earrings.

Why does my dancer’s hair need to be secured in a bun?

How your dancer’s hair is secured can affect their dancing immensely. If not secured properly it can affect vision (getting into their eyes), head placement for turns, center of gravity for balances, and keep them from important parts of classes and rehearsals if they are distracted by having to fix it in the middle of learning.

Why can’t my dancer wear their ballet shoes on the sidewalk or through parking lots?

This is to keep their shoes clean so they last longer, while also keeping our dance floor clean and scratch free!

Why can’t my dancer have holes in their tights?

Ms. Michelle asks that our dancers dress in a way that shows respect for the dancer and for others. Please check for holes or runs in tights often and replace tights as needed. Consider in investing in multiple pairs of tights to ensure your dancer always has a clean and fresh pair for each class.

Why does my dancer need to wear a cover-up going to and from the studio?

This is for the safety of your dancer and for your sanity! It keeps their ballet uniform clean and if your dancer takes a tumble, you’re less likely to have to buy replacement tights.
